John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Home

When we are able to meet with Jesus in solitude and in beauty, we are able to come home and say, “I am home and I am here to love you.”

Meeting Jesus gives us the capacity to love others, to be present to others and to accomplish a lot more work than we could otherwise do…

We need time to steal away and meet with him every day, every weekend, and every year.   We need to talk things over with him and receive his truth and light.  Then we are able to be his ambassadors to a starving world.

Fisher of Men

Jesus-what did he have? A copious amount of the Father's love.  He didn't have a lot of money or worldly power.  His entourage were fishermen, tax collectors and prostitutes.  Yet, He was able to fulfill His mission on earth because He knew who He was, He knew where He came from, and He knew where He was going...He was a fisher of men...

Shipwrecked (a poem) dedicated to Paul (the apostle).

Shipwrecked,

broken,

salty from

the sea.

All is lost,

All is

forgiven,

says this

fire within

me.

A spark,

a flame of

love,

that lead's

me to the

shore.

Those I

loved are

waiting, sharing,

praying...

Above,

an eagle soars.

Waiting (a poem)

Waiting
Like the Ocean,
The Beach,
The Seashore,
The Tide
Coming in
And out.
Quiet,
All I hear
Is water
Rising and
Falling.
Listening,
Pausing,
I walk,
I wait,
Like footsteps
On the sand.
I am lost,
I am remembered.

New birth

I'm not a mother, but I know that delivering a baby can be a painful process.  I think it can be similar when God is trying to birth something new in you.

Isaiah says, "Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?  says your God.

Maybe you feel tension on all sides, maybe you are not as comfortable as you once were in your work or home life?

Keep pushing, keep inviting God in, and trust that he will deliver you soon into a new season.

Abide with him/and he will bring these things to pass...

The gift that keeps giving

“It is in giving that we receive.” St. Francis

It takes a lot of grace and spiritual discipline to give to others when you yourself are experiencing pain be it physical or emotional.

Pain naturally makes us think of ourselves and long for someone to care for our own needs, but Jesus tells us “It’s more blessed to give than receive.”

When we move beyond just the focus of self and give to others we receive a blessing, perhaps it brings us out of our pain for a moment to experience an act of love and charity. Selfless-Love is the ultimate healing balm.

Even, in his agony on the cross, Jesus reached out to others.  He promised paradise to a dying thief, and he gave his grieving mother another son to provide for her needs.

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Beauty of the Lord!

One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:4

I hadn’t been to church in a few weeks, but I was excited to go and as we entered into one worship song, I had to stand back and gaze upon the beauty of God’s people in colorful dress, hands outstretched, people of other cultures, all singing together in Spanish about the Love of the Lord and desiring to bless Him and each other..

The people of the Lord are radiantly beautiful, the church is exquisitely beautiful, and the Lord most high is the most beautiful of all. He is the place of beauty in which we long to dwell.

David, the psalmist knew what he was talking about when he wrote about his longing to dwell in the house of the Lord and to gaze upon His beautiful bride…

There’s nothing quite like it, or as pure and beautiful as the body of Christ worshiping the Lord together in Unity.

Taste and see that the Lord is good! Psalm 34:8

On Letting Go...

We have to let go of our need to make sense of our life.  We constantly review the past, look at the present, and hope for the future.  These are necessary and healthy things, but we cannot and never can control our destinies, or the destinies of our loved ones.

We can pray, hope, believe, but ultimately God has the final say.  His timing is always perfect.  His ways are higher and more loving and more healing than we can ever imagine.

If we can everyday wake up and let go of our need to know, it gives more control over to God to let Him shape us through life’s circumstances and through His divine touch over our lives.

It’s very difficult to let go, and live in a state of handing over our life and the lives of our loved ones to God.

It takes spiritual strength, energy, courage and deep compassion in believing God is with us, and will never leave us nor forsake us.

Make me an instrument

“I become an instrument of God when I let go of my own need to have everything go well or to avoid failure or to please others or simply to make more money. I become God’s song when I open up and trust that God’s energy moving through me will create goodness and harmony through who and how I am.” Joyce Rupp

Who doesn’t want everything to go well?  Who isn’t prone to please others? Who doesn’t want to avoid failure at all costs?  Who doesn’t want to make more money?

I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule, but I think many people are caught up in this striving for perfection.

Self-acceptance is key here; when you can accept the imperfections of your life, your failures, poverty (inner or outer or both), and limitations.  When you can bring these needs before God, first and a trusted other, second than real healing begins.

God can’t heal a perfect person, or someone who tries really hard to project an image of perfection!

We need grace here.  We need honesty.  We need transparency.

We need Hope!

Awakening

The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach - waiting for a gift from the sea. Anne Morrow Lindbergh

I think the summer is a time of emptying one self.  Letting go of the hard work that has afforded some leisure, some solitude, some rest, some stillness.

Waiting to hear from God, to receive His gift, whatever it may be.

Time will tell.  Listen.  Listen to the waves that crash over rocks making rough places smooth; such is our life, smoothing out the edges.  Let time and physics do its deep work.

We are creation.  We are part of our environment.  Let creative energy and the Creator's power do its deep awakening in us.  We need to listen.  We need to let go.  We need to be still and know that He is God.  We need to surrender!
